MARSHALS SNAG FINAL PLAYOFF SPOT, STEAM BEAT OUTLAWS
The McKinney Marshals have a chance to defend their title after defeating the Weatherford Wranglers during the last game of the regular season to become the final team to qualify for the 2007 Texas Collegiate League playoffs. Now only the Wichita Falls Roughnecks, Coppell Copperheads, Brazos Valley Bombers and the Marshals remain to battle for the TCL Championship. The Denton Outlaws became the last odd team out as they were knocked out of playoff contention following the McKinney victory over the Wranglers.

MCKINNEY 3, WEATHERFORD 0
The McKinney Marshals round out the regular season with a crucial match-up with the Weatherford Wranglers. The Marshals clinched a playoff berth with the 3-0 victory over the Wranglers. Coach Kyle Hope sent Daniel Meadows to the mound and he threw five innings of scoreless ball giving up four hits and three strikeouts. After a base hit bunt by Brett Nommenson in the fourth, Brandon Glover spoiled the scoreless game by cranking a two-run home run off Zach Harwood. That is all the Marshals would need as McKinney catcher Bryan Holaday came in to pitch to close out the final regular season game with two innings of scoreless work. McKinney will now look toward the post-season heading up to Wichita Falls to begin the three-game series on Monday.
MINERAL WELLS 5, DENTON 4
After the McKinney win earlier in the day, it officially omitted Denton from playoff contention. The Mineral Wells Steam ended the season in the same fashion they started it – with a win. Ryan Goins hit a walk-off base hit to leftcenter to score Dylan Graham from third base in the 10th inning, giving Mineral Wells a 7-6 win over the Denton Outlaws Sunday night at Pratt Field. Goins finished the night three-for-five with two runs and three RBIs. Bo Coffman and Brice Cutspec also added three hits apiece for the Steam, who collected 13 hits total on the evening. James Oliver started the game on the hill and went six strong innings of work. Oliver gave up two runs, just one earned, and struck out three. Les Sarels and Brett Lester combined for the next inning of work before Tyson Bagley entered the game. Bagley pitched three innings, giving up just one hit and fanning four batters for the win. Mineral Wells trailed 6-5 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. But Dallas Tarleton led off with a single and then advanced to second base on a passed ball. After Josh Vander Hey struck out swinging, Brice Cutspec came through with a clutch single down the right field line that scored Tarleton from second and tied the game up.
WEATHERFORD 3, WICHITA FALLS 2
Weatherford completed their regular season will an odd double header, facing the McKinney Marshals in the first game and the Roughnecks in the nightcap. Gary Poynter tabbed the victory after 4 1/3 innings giving up two runs, two hits and three strikeouts. Jeremy Erben tallied another save to end the regular season as the league leader with eight. Wichita Falls starter Robert Young went a solid four innings giving up one run on four hits and striking out three. Dusty Coleman led the Wranglers with two RBI on a fielder's choice and a sacrifice fly.
COPPELL 5, DUNCANVILLE 0
Coppell ended the regular season on a good note going into the playoffs with a 5-0 win over the Deputies. Tim Mathews pitched five innings not allowing a run and striking out five. Brandon Belt led the offensive charge going 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
