OUTLAWS WIN TWO, DEPUTIES BASH ROUGHNECKSThe Outlaws get two wins on the night after winning the suspended game for July 11th in 13 innings and then shutting out the Copperheads in the second game. DENTON 11, COPPELL 10 (GAME 1-SUSP FROM 7/11) DENTON 7, COPPELL 0 (GAME 2) The Denton Outlaws outmatched the Coppell Copperheads winning by seven in seven innings as part of an abrreviated double-header. Prior to the game, the Outlaws and the Copperheads finished the game they started on July 11th that was suspened due to a league mandated curfew. Denton won 11-10 in 13 innings. The Outlaws had four straight runners cross home plate as part of a five run fourth inning. Rightfielder Jeremy Gould had the big hit in the inning when he laced a single into centerfield, scoring two. The offensive barrage the Outlaws provided in the fourth inning would prove to be more than enough, as starter Alex Posey went the distance scattering two hits. BRAZOS VALLEY 4, MCKINNEY 2 The errors did the Marshals in as the Brazos Valley Bombers defeated the Marshal 4-2. Brazos Valley got a run in the 1st with a help of an error McKinney tied the game 1-1 with a Derek Wiley RBI double. In the 5th Kevin Stein of the Bombers had a RBI to give the bombers the lead 2-1 then in the 7th McKinney tied it up again with a RBI by Michael Rockett. Brazos Valley took back the lead for good in the 8th with another error by McKinney. The win goes to Adam Albright (1-0) and the loss goes to Austin Coan (0-1). WEATHERFORD 1, COLLEYVILLE 0 The starting pitchers for the game were Sam Murphy for the LoneStars and Justin Wells for the Wranglers, who combined to strike out sixteen batters. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 8th inning when Spencer Jackson hit a sac fly to right field to plate Buck Britton to take the 1-0 lead. Jeremy Erben came on for the Wranglers to pick up his 5th save of the season by pitching a scoreless 9th inning. DUNCANVILLE 10, WICHITA FALLS 1 Deputies Jeremy Barfield and Jimmy Commerata led the hitting charge combining for six hits and four RBI with Trey Presswood raking in two RBI on his first home run of the season. Ricky Testa threw another great outing lasting seven innings striking out three and not giving up an earned run. Brian Cloud got tabbed with the loss after giving up eight earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. |
