BOMBERS, OUTLAWS SHUT OUT OPPONENTS

This has been the first day in weeks that the Texas Collegiate League has gotten four games in one day without any rainouts.  Hopefully, that is a sign of good weather to come.

DENTON 3, DUNCANVILLE 0
The Denton Outlaws won a pitchers' duel as they scored three in the bottom of the eigth inning to win, 3-0.  Duncanville starter Jared Rogers pitched seven beautiful innings but looked to tire in his eigth frame of work. The Deputies' lanky right hander flummoxed the Outlaw bats,
forcing 13 groundball outs. Ben Carruthers had a good oppurtunity to get Denton off the shnide in the fifth inning when he stepped up with runners on first and thrid and only one out. Carruthers lined a fastball the otherway but it was snagged by Deputies first baseman Morgan Kielty who then stepped on first for the inning ending double play. Carruthers, however, singled to start the eigth inning game-winning rally which was followed by a Kai Kirby walk and a Heath Pugh then opened it up with a 2 run triple to right. Steven Maxwell got a no decision despite seven superlative innings, striking out eight.

The Coppell Copperheads jumped out to a 5-0 lead after six innings, then held off the Wichita Falls Roughnecks to claim a 5-4 triumph Friday night at Hoskins Field.Coppell (7-6) got the game winner on what looked to be an insurance blast by Harrison Drieling who belted his first homer of the season during a three-run sixth.  The Roughnecks (10-6) made a comeback by scratching out a run in the seventh, then Jason Seefeld belted his fourth home run of the season over the left centerfield wall to lead off the eighth.Wichita Falls collected two more runs in the inning to make it close.  Clayton Ehlert (1-0) got the win for Coppell, with Garrett Clyde notching his first save of the season. The loss went to Wichita Falls' Brett Holland who fell to 1-3.  The game was moved to Wichita Falls because of implayable conditions at Coppell on Friday.Wichita Falls hosts Denton for a doubleheader beginning at 5:05 on Saturday.
