Josh Vander Hey (Mineral Wells '07) was named to the Red River Athletic Conference First Team, the league announced this week.
Vander Hey, a junior catcher from Cypress, Texas, hit .381 for Texas Wesleyan and led the team in hits (63), doubles (12), and RBI (55). He also hit four home runs while helping the Rams win the RRAC Championship and advance to the NAIA Region VI Tournament.
Vander Hey and the Rams won their 40th contest of the season with a 9-3 win over Wiley College in the Region VI Tournament on Wednesday, marking just the fifth time the milestone has been reached in the 40-year history of the program.
The award marks the second time Vander Hey has garnered first team honors. Vander Hey hit .390 as a freshman in 2005 while earning first team honors and landed on the second team last season. Vander Hey started his collegiate career at Baylor where he red-shirted in 2004.
