BOMBERS ANNOUNCE FIRST HEAD COACH

Moulder
January 10, 2007 - The Brazos Valley Bombers introduced Kevin Moulder as the team’s head coach for the 2007 season at a press conference today at Boston’s Pizza. Moulder, an assistant coach with the University of Central Missouri, brings to the Bombers a championship resume and a strong coaching background for the club’s inaugural season.

“I’m real excited about getting down here and coaching in the Texas Collegiate League, especially for an exciting new team like the Bombers” said Moulder. “I’m ready to get here this summer and start winning."

"This is the next step in the evolution of Bombers baseball,” added owner Uri Geva. “Our goal is to make the Bombers the premier entertainment option in the Brazos Valley every summer. Adding a coach with Kevin’s championship experience is an important step towards that goal.”

Moulder joins the Bombers after enjoying tremendous success this past summer with the Laramie (Wyo.) Colts of the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League. In his first turn as head coach, Moulder guided the Colts to a 32-18 (.640 winning percentage) record and captured the league title. His squad boasted the league’s top two prospects as rated by Baseball America and led all summer collegiate teams with a .318 batting average. The 2006 spring season was Moulder’s first with Central Missouri, helping the Mules to a 44-16 record. UCM is a baseball powerhouse, having reached the Division II World Series in five of the last six seasons and 11 of the past 13. The Mules are the winningest college baseball program of the millennium. The St. Louis native began his coaching career in 2004, working with the pitching staff at Forest Park (Mo.) Community College.

Moulder then became an assistant with Lake City (Fla.) Community College in 2005, helping attract one of the strongest recruiting classes in the country. Nine Lake City players were selected in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft, the second highest total among all college programs.

Moulder’s playing career serves as the foundation for his coaching success. As a pitcher with Forest Park, he was named First Team All-Region and helped lead the team to the 2001 Junior College World Series. He followed that up with a pair of summer collegiate regular season titles, with the Fauquier (Va.) Gators of the Clark Griffith Collegiate Baseball League in 2001, and the Wellsville (N.Y.) Nitros of the New York Collegiate Baseball League in 2002. Moulder completed his collegiate career at Murray State University, winning the Ohio Valley Conference title in 2003. The Bombers are members of the nine-team Texas Collegiate League, one of the nation’s premier summer collegiate circuits. Teams like the Bombers bring minor league baseball-style entertainment to communities throughout the country, giving some of the best college players a chance to further their careers in wood bat leagues in front of Major League scouts.

The Bombers begin their 48-game inaugural season on June 5 against the Coppell Copperheads. The team’s historic home opener will take place on June 8 when the Bombers welcome the Duncanville Deputies to Travis Field.
