WEATHERFORD CLINCHES PLAYOFF SPOT; EULESS TIES McKINNEYWeatherford 6
Denton 2 Weatherford scored four times in the 6th inning to snap a 1-1 tie as the Wranglers earned their 2nd consecutive 2nd place finish in the Hornsby Division. Travis Reagan's 3-run homer was the big hit in the inning. Colt Hynes issued 7 hits and one run in 6.1 innings for the victory with Kyle Nicholson working the final 2.2 frames. Kyle Hollander took the loss in relief. Denton's Josh Banda was 2-5 and leads the TCL with a .415 average. The Wranglers and Outlaws open the Hornsby Division playoff series on Monday night in Denton. Game 2 will take place in Weatherford on Tuesday and if necessary, the series returns to Denton on Wednesday. In 2004, the Wranglers lost to Graham in 3 games in the Division playoffs. Euless 9 McKinney 7 The LoneStars jumped out to a 9-2 lead after 5 innings and held off the Marshals to move into a 2nd place tie in the Speaker Division. Euless and McKinney are both 26-20 with 2 games to play. If the teams finish in a tie, Euless will go to the playoffs by virtue of a 5-3 advantage in the season's series versus McKinney. Steve Robison drove in 4 runs and Tyler Henley homered for the LoneStars. Chance Corgan issued 2 runs in 5 innings for the victory. Greg Erickson was the starter and loser for McKinney, which committed 6 errors in the game. Euless had 5 miscues of their own. Euless finishes with a home and home series against Speaker Division champ Coppell while McKinney has a pair with Highland Park. Graham 2 Mineral Wells 1 Dane Carter scored on a bases loaded wild pitch with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th to give the Roughnecks a walk-off win and eliminate the Steam from playoff contention. Mineral Wells had tied the game in the 6th on Ben Brossman's home run. Dustin Willis earned the win in relief off Dan Donaldson. The losing pitcher was Brett Lester, who threw the game-winning wild pitch. Graham moved into third place with the win but was also eliminated from the playoffs with Weatherford's win at Denton. Highland Park 6 Coppell 1 The Blue Sox moved within a game of .500 at 22-23 with the victory. Mark Doll permitted just 3 hits and 2 runs in 7 strong innings before Blake Feaser blanked the Copperheads over the final 2 frames. Charlie Kingery was 3-4 with a home run for the Blue Sox. Branden Knapp allowed 11 hits and 5 runs in 7 innings to take the loss. |
