Generals Beat Texarkana in Monday Night Matchup

Generals Win

Victoria, TX – The second half of the season is well underway, and the Victoria Generals have off to a strong start winning six of ten games. The team, led by coach Michael Oros, currently sits in second place in the Texas Collegiate League standing a half game behind the Acadiana Cane Cutters. . Victoria took on the Texarkana Twins tonight in the first of a two game series. The Generals won by a score of 6-4.

 

The Generals defense held the Twins bats for six innings before they scored their first two runs of the game. Starting pitcher Alex Canul struck out eight batters, while only walking two in his six and a third innings pitched. Hagan Hartman and Kal Kilgo pitched in relief over the following two innings. Generals second year closer, Garrett Alexander, came in for the final two innings of the game. Alexander struck out five batters, and allowed two hits.

 

Offensively, the Generals had 10 hits as a team. Chase Evans had two sacrifice flies to bring in two runs. Michael Morissette went 2 for 3 on the night with one RBI and a walk. First year General, Thomas Jeffries, came around to score twice while stealing a few bases. Jeffries broke the Generals single season stolen base record with 29 successful attempts, a record that has stood since 2013 (Brandon Hannon).

 

The Generals will wrap up the series with the Twins tomorrow night at 7:05 pm with Teo for Tuesday (Buy one /Get one Free Tickets) Gates open at 6 pm with Happy Hour until first pitch. The Generals will be back at home on Sunday with Faith and Family Night presented by Klean Corp International. Gates open at 6pm with a pe-game concert by Clay Crockett and the Nation of Believers.
