Texas Collegiate League

First baseman Andrew Brown of the Denton Outlaws and righthander Austin Creps of the McKinney Marshals have been selected as the D-Bat Texas Collegiate League Player and Pitcher of the Month for July, the league office announced Monday.

Brown, who is entering his sophomore year at the University of Nebraska, batted .389 (35-90) with 12 home runs and 31 rbi in 26 games in July. The righthanded batter scored 20 runs and had six doubles in helping lead Denton to a first place finish in the Rogers Hornsby Division.

For the summer Brown, who is from Carrollton, Texas, hit a TCL record 13 homers and led the league with 39 rbi while batting .311 in 42 games.

Creps, who will be a junior at Texas A&M, was 3-1 with a 2.35 era in five July starts as McKinney earned its second consecutive playoff appearance in the Tris Speaker Division. The righthander from Spring, Texas allowed just eight earned runs with 38 strikeouts in 30.2 innings and went 3-0, 1.29 in his final four outings in the month. Creps was 5-1, 1.72 in ten games/nine starts overall this summer.

ROBBIE WINN AND JAKE ARIETTA EARN D-BAT TCL WEEKLY AWARDS
First baseman Robbie Winn of the Weatherford Wranglers and righthander Jake Arietta of the McKinney Marshals are the recipients of the D-Bat Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards for July 25-31.
Winn, who will be a junior at the University of Texas-Arlington, batted .379 (11-29) with 8 runs, 3 homers, and 10 rbi in 7 games for the playoff bound Wranglers last week. Arietta, a sophomore at Texas Christian University, clinched a playoff spot for McKinney on Sunday, allowing just one hit and one unearned run in 8 innings in a 7-1 victory over Highland Park. He retired 18 of the final 20 batters he faced. Arietta was previously named TCL Pitcher of the Week for June 6-12.
