TCL Announces Players of the Week

Texas & Louisiana, USA (August 1, 2022) — The final week of the TCL regular season delivered exciting play and explosive performances from individuals across the league. Teams battled down the stretch for playoff seeding helping create intense moments where only the best perform. Brennan Holt of the Baton Rouge Rougarou delivered consistently at the plate this week to help lead the roux to the number four seed and earn Hitter of the Week honors. He was not alone though for the Rougarou, as teammate Landry Alligood stepped up in a big way on the mound to earn Co-Pitcher of the week honors alongside Josh Mancuso of the Acadiana Cane Cutters. This is Mancuso’s second time to be honored as the Pitcher of the Week.

Brennan Holt is the 2nd Rougarou hitter in a row and the first LSU Tiger to earn the title as TCL Hitter of the Week. Holt recently finished his career at LSU and will head to Oklahoma State this coming Fall. Holt's week had him collecting eight hits including three doubles, nine walks, four RBI, five stolen bases, while only striking out once! Holt finished the week hitting .571 with a whopping OPS of 1.525. Brennan looks to continue his hot streak into the playoffs for the Rougarou.

Alligood, the former Tulane University product and future Ragin' Cajun from Louisiana, continues to impress this summer for the Rougarou. This past week was no different as Landry made a masterful appearance against the Brazos Valley Bombers. Alligood struck out nine batters while surrendering only two hits and no runs over six innings to collect the win. For the season, Landry sports a 2.57 ERA over 28 innings while striking out 35 batters.

Josh Mancuso of the Cane Cutters finds himself in familiar territory being named pitcher of the week for a 2nd time this season. This week Josh shares the honor with Landry Alligood. Mancuso’s outings this past week showed why he will be an important piece of the Cane Cutter’s pitching staff as they head into the playoffs. Mancuso posted an almost identical stat line as Alligood, however, Mancuso’s innings came over two appearances. Josh started against the Generals and threw five innings of shutout baseball while only surrendering one hit and striking out six. Josh would come back five days later to face four Rougarou hitters and he struck out three of them. Over 42 innings, the Nicholls State product has 44 strikeouts with a 3.42 ERA.
