Another Wild Night in the TCL: River Monsters Rally, Gators Walk It Off, Flying Bison Win Historic Slugfest, Generals Stay Hot

The Texas Collegiate League delivered another thrilling night of baseball on Saturday as fans witnessed dramatic comebacks, walk-off heroics, an offensive explosion for the record books, and another dominant performance by the league-leading Victoria Generals.

Flying Bison Outlast Cane Cutters in Historic 41-Run Thriller

The game everyone will be talking about took place in Acadiana, where the Abilene Flying Bison erased a 16-run deficit to stun the Cane Cutters 21-20 in one of the wildest games in Texas Collegiate League history.

Acadiana appeared well on its way to an easy victory after exploding for 14 runs over the first four innings, building a commanding 16-1 lead. But Abilene never quit.

The Flying Bison erupted for 10 runs in the fifth inning, added another in the sixth, then plated seven more in the seventh before scoring two insurance runs in the ninth to complete an incredible comeback.

Despite collecting only nine hits, Abilene capitalized on 17 walks, aggressive baserunning, and timely hitting.

  • Keller Rivers finished with four RBIs and stole three bases.
  • Rodrigo Bravo drove in four runs.
  • Wyatt Fielding added three RBIs.
  • Luke Najera scored four times.

Acadiana pounded out 16 hits in the loss.

  • Aidan Eshelman went 4-for-5 with four RBIs.
  • Parker Gwyn collected four hits and four RBIs.
  • Braylin Harris and Tanner Hornback each drove in two runs.

The teams combined for 41 runs, 25 hits, 33 walks, and nearly 525 pitches, producing one of the highest-scoring games ever played in the TCL.

Lake Charles Walks Off Baton Rouge

The Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat the Baton Rouge Rougarou 7-6 with an unforgettable ninth-inning comeback.

Trailing 6-3 entering the bottom of the ninth, Lake Charles scored four runs to steal the victory.

Reid Snider paced the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Bankston Lembcke scored twice and drove in another run.

After allowing five runs early, Lake Charles' bullpen shut the door as Daniel Midkiff delivered 5.2 outstanding innings of relief, allowing just one hit while striking out four to keep the Gators within striking distance.

River Monsters Rally Past Bombers

The San Antonio River Monsters continued their magical inaugural season with a 7-5 comeback victory over the Brazos Valley Bombers.

Trailing 5-2 entering the seventh inning, San Antonio erupted for five runs to flip the game.

Hunter Ham was the offensive star, finishing with two hits, four RBIs, including a key extra-base hit during the decisive rally.

Bryce Wells reached base five times with two hits and three walks while scoring twice, and Eric Bacon added two hits.

For Brazos Valley, Tobias Motley enjoyed a huge night at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a home run, while Derrick Mitchell and Derek Martinez also homered in the losing effort.

Victoria Continues Roll with Dominant Road Win

The Victoria Generals stayed atop the TCL standings by cruising past the Sherman Shadowcats 13-1.

Victoria's offense produced 14 hits, led by:

  • Jace Martinez: 4-for-5, three RBIs
  • Caden Callaway: two hits, two RBIs
  • Austin Marlin: two RBIs
  • Jeter Battles: two RBIs

On the mound, Jalen Owens set the tone with five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out seven.

The Generals' pitching staff combined to strike out 17 Sherman hitters, holding the Shadowcats to just four hits all evening.
