Bombers Explode Late, Rougarou Hold Off Rally, Cane Cutters Stay Hot, River Monsters Surge Past Generals

The Texas Collegiate League delivered another exciting night of baseball on Tuesday as the Brazos Valley Bombers broke open a close game with a huge eighth inning, the Baton Rouge Rougarou survived a late comeback from Abilene, the Acadiana Cane Cutters continued their winning ways, and the San Antonio River Monsters erupted late to defeat the Victoria Generals.

Brazos Valley Bombers 15, Sherman Shadowcats 6

The Brazos Valley Bombers used a seven-run eighth inning to turn a competitive game into a convincing 15-6 victory over the Sherman Shadowcats.

Sherman struck first with two runs in the opening inning before Brazos Valley answered with a pair of runs over the first two frames. The Bombers took control in the third with a four-run rally and added two more in the fourth to build an 8-3 advantage.

The Shadowcats battled back behind a solo home run from Tyler Sessions and a four-hit performance from Zach Fjelstad, trimming the deficit to 8-6 entering the bottom of the eighth. That's when the Bombers' offense exploded, scoring seven runs to put the game away.

Blaine Lucas led the Bombers with a home run and four RBIs, while Kason Atkins drove in two runs and Jax Marshall added a pair of RBIs off the bench. Brazos Valley showed tremendous patience at the plate, drawing 18 walks in the victory.

For Sherman, Fjelstad finished 4-for-5 with an RBI, Tyler Sessions collected two hits including his home run, and Ricky Requejo added two RBIs.

Baton Rouge Rougarou 7, Abilene Flying Bison 6

The Baton Rouge Rougarou built an early cushion and then held off a furious late rally by the Abilene Flying Bison to earn a 7-6 victory.

Baton Rouge scored three runs in the first inning, added another in the second, and plated three more in the fourth to grab a 7-0 lead. Starting pitcher Michael Sutton was outstanding, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits to earn the win.

Abilene refused to go quietly, scoring three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. Tristan Russell highlighted the comeback with a three-RBI performance, while Tom Chessell delivered a pinch-hit RBI double.

The Rougarou bullpen bent but didn't break as Colton Sylvester recorded the final four outs to secure his first save of the season.

Trip Dobson finished with two hits and an RBI for Baton Rouge, while Jacob Keys drove in two runs during the victory.

Acadiana Cane Cutters 7, Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators 4

The Acadiana Cane Cutters used timely hitting and a strong performance from their pitching staff to defeat the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators, 7-4.

Acadiana broke through with three runs in the third inning and maintained control throughout most of the evening before adding three important insurance runs in the eighth.

Braylin Harris led the Cane Cutters with two hits and an RBI, while Ethan Espricueta collected two hits and scored twice. Abel Thetford chipped in with two hits and an RBI as Acadiana totaled seven hits.

Starter Jacob Baker set the tone by allowing just two hits over four scoreless innings before the bullpen combined to finish the game.

Lake Charles mounted a late comeback behind RBIs from Bankston Lembcke, Ayden Sunday, and Griffin Hebert, but Acadiana closed the door to earn the victory.

San Antonio River Monsters 9, Victoria Generals 4

The San Antonio River Monsters erupted for seven runs in the eighth inning to rally past the Victoria Generals, 9-4.

Victoria carried a 1-0 lead into the sixth before the River Monsters finally broke through with two runs to move in front. The Generals answered with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to briefly tie the game, but San Antonio immediately responded with a seven-run outburst that sealed the win.

Nathan Hodge delivered the biggest swing of the night with three RBIs, while Eric Bacon scored twice and drove in another run. Hunter Ham finished with two hits and an RBI, and Roman Trinidad added two hits of his own.

On the mound, Aiden Cline earned the victory after allowing just one run over four innings. Bruno Robles closed out the final five outs to preserve the win.

For Victoria, Lucas Wilson scored twice and drove in a run, while Josh Arquette collected two hits in the losing effort.
