Victoria Uses Big Third Inning to Defeat Sherman, 7-3

The Victoria Generals broke the game open with a five-run third inning and never looked back, defeating the Sherman Shadowcats 7-3 on Wednesday night.

Victoria pounded out 13 hits, led by Roman Cariaga, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and two walks. Lucas Wilson added three hits and scored twice, while Diego Gonzalez drove in a pair as the Generals built an early 5-0 advantage.

Starter Benito Mayorga was outstanding, allowing just one run on six hits over seven innings while striking out three. Jackson Ambrose closed the door with a scoreless ninth to earn the victory.

Sherman mounted a late rally, scoring once in the sixth and twice in the eighth. Cole Carnes accounted for both RBIs with a two-hit performance, while Zach Fjelstad continued his strong season by going 3-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, and a walk.

Bombers Hold Off Cane Cutters Behind Strong Pitching

The Brazos Valley Bombers jumped out early and never surrendered the lead, defeating the Acadiana Cane Cutters 4-2.

The Bombers scored three runs in the first inning before adding another in the fourth. Blaine Lucas led the offense with two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Kason Atkins chipped in an RBI, while Brazos Valley worked an impressive 12 walks to keep pressure on the Acadiana pitching staff throughout the evening.

On the mound, Brady Coe was dominant to start the game, tossing four perfect innings with five strikeouts. After Acadiana trimmed the deficit to 4-2, Preston Senter earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief before Cadyn Shaw recorded the final three outs for his first save of the season.

Acadiana collected nine hits, including two each from Ethan Espricueta, Jayce LaCava, and Cade Wilkerson, but stranded eight runners in the loss.

Rougarou Cruise Past Gumbeaux Gators, 9-2

The Baton Rouge Rougarou put together another complete performance Wednesday night, rolling to a 9-2 victory over the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators.

Baton Rouge struck first in the opening inning before pulling away with a two-run third and a decisive five-run fifth. Haze McCorkel provided the biggest swing of the night with a three-run home run, while Jacob Keys finished with two hits and two RBIs. Trip Dobson stayed hot at the plate with three hits and two runs scored.

The story, however, was starter Michael Sutton, who carried a no-hitter through six innings, allowing no hits while striking out five. Lake Charles finally broke through in the eighth with its only two hits of the night, but the Rougarou bullpen finished off the win.

The Gumbeaux Gators managed just two hits, with Lane Sparks and Ayden Sunday accounting for the offense. Sunday's RBI single prevented the shutout in the eighth inning.
