Rougarou Clinch Louisiana Division Title with Walk-Off Win
Baton Rouge, LA – June 25, 2025 — The Baton Rouge Rougarou are headed back to the postseason.
With a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory over the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Wednesday night, Baton Rouge clinched the Louisiana Division title and secured their spot in the Texas Collegiate League playoffs. The win capped a strong first half for the Rougarou, who showed resilience and depth all season long.
Trailing 4-1 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Rougarou rallied. Priester laced an RBI single, Robinson Jr. followed with another run-scoring hit, and Walters added a game-tying sacrifice fly to even the score at four apiece.
After a scoreless eighth, Artigues led off the ninth with a walk and moved into scoring position following a pair of quality at-bats. With two outs, it was Priester again who delivered—his third hit of the night finding a gap to bring home the game-winning run and send the home crowd into celebration.
Shelly stayed red-hot at the plate with a three-hit performance, while Sawa, Robichaux, and Artigues each reached base multiple times. On the mound, Rodrigiez battled through five innings before handing things over to the bullpen trio of Johnson, Moran, and Austin. The latter earned the win after a clean ninth.
With the win, Baton Rouge improves their first-half record to a division-best mark and officially clinches the top seed out of Louisiana.
Playoff baseball is back in Baton Rouge—and the Rougarou are just getting started.
