Victoria's Benito Mayorga Named TCL Pitcher of the Week
The Texas Collegiate League has named Victoria Generals right-hander Benito Mayorga as the Week 3 Pitcher of the Week following a dominant performance on the mound.
Mayorga was nearly unhittable in his lone appearance of the week, earning the victory after tossing 7.0 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. The Victoria ace struck out nine batters and did not allow a run, finishing the week with a perfect 0.00 ERA.
His commanding outing helped lead the Generals to another strong week and showcased why he has become one of the league's toughest pitchers to face. Mayorga consistently worked ahead in counts, generated swings and misses, and kept opposing hitters off balance throughout his seven-inning masterpiece.
