Victoria Generals Capture 2026 Texas Collegiate League Championship with 14-4 Victory

VICTORIA, Texas – The Victoria Generals are champions once again.

Behind a relentless offensive attack and timely pitching, the Generals rolled past the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators 14-4 on Saturday night to capture the 2026 Texas Collegiate League Championship in front of their home crowd.

Lake Charles struck first in the opening inning, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI groundout by Bankston Lembcke before extending the advantage to 2-0 in the second when Yuichiro Kumagami lifted a sacrifice fly to center.

Victoria answered immediately in the bottom of the second, then seized control for good with a four-run third inning. Caden Callaway delivered the biggest swing of the frame with a two-run double before Juan Cantua added an RBI single, giving the Generals a 5-2 lead.

The Generals never looked back.

Victoria added two more runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, and another four-run outburst in the sixth to put the championship out of reach. The offense capitalized on 11 walks while producing nine hits and 13 RBIs.

Roman Cariaga led the championship charge, going 3-for-6 with a home run, double, four RBIs, and two runs scored. Callaway also drove in four runs, finishing with a double, two walks, and two runs scored. Juan Cantua added two RBIs, while Keegan Demmer collected a two-run single and Davidenko Rodriguez reached base four times, scored twice, and drove in a run.

Lucas Wilson crossed the plate three times as the Generals' patient approach forced Lake Charles pitchers into long innings throughout the night.

Victoria's pitching staff settled in after the early deficit. Starter Benito Mayorga allowed two runs over the first three innings before Jalen Owens earned the championship victory with two strikeouts in relief. Ryan Porche, Ryan Dugas, and Clark Scallon combined to close out the final 5 1/3 innings, with Dugas striking out four over two scoreless frames.

Lake Charles collected eight hits in the loss, highlighted by a solo home run from Lane Sparks and a pair of hits from Ayden Sunday, including a triple. Reid Snider also recorded two hits, while Matthew Scott and Kumagami each drove in a run.

The Gumbeaux Gators battled through a strong postseason to earn a trip to the championship game, but Victoria's explosive offense proved too much to overcome.

With the victory, the Victoria Generals are crowned the 2026 Texas Collegiate League Champions, capping an outstanding season with the league's ultimate prize.
