2025 TCL Player of the Year

Baton Rouge’s Joshua Shelly Named 2025 TCL Player of the Year

Baton Rouge Rougarou third baseman Joshua Shelly has been named the 2025 Texas Collegiate League Player of the Year, capping off a sensational summer campaign that established him as one of the league’s most consistent and dangerous offensive threats.

Shelly anchored the Rougarou lineup from start to finish, posting a stellar .358 batting average, a .464 on-base percentage, and a .509 slugging percentage. The power-hitting third baseman drove in 37 runs, ripped 14 doubles, and scored 32 times while drawing 26 walks and getting hit by eight pitches. His bat never cooled off, and neither did his impact on the field.

Beyond the numbers, Shelly brought an unmatched presence at the hot corner. Whether driving in key runs or flashing the leather on defense, he consistently came through in big moments and played a pivotal role in Baton Rouge's TCL-best 37-10 season.

His blend of power, plate discipline, and durability made him a nightmare for opposing pitchers and a cornerstone for the Rougarou's offensive success. Coaches across the league praised Shelly for his ability to adjust in-game and lead by example — traits that separated him from an already competitive field of top performers.

Shelly’s standout summer places him in elite company as one of the TCL’s most complete players in recent memory — and the league’s 2025 Player of the Year.
