WRANGLERS EDGE LONESTARS

Colleyville against Weatherford would be the only contest in the TCL on Wednesday night as the majority of the league is on a day off.  But, it was definitely no day off for these two teams as they battled into extra frames

WEATHERFORD 3, COLLEYVILLE 2
The Weatherford Wranglers turned walks into the tying and winning runs as they outlasted the Colleyville LoneStars, 3-2, in 10 innings Wednesday night in Colleyville.  Adam Hornung parlayed his lead-off walk in the top of the 10th into the winning run, sprinting home from third when Joey Butler, making his TCL debut, drove a hard-hit grounder up the middle of the infield. LoneStar shortstop Austin Knight made a diving stop on the ball, but could not recover to make a throw. Hornung had advanced to third on a Seth Hammock single to leftfield.  The two teams each scored in the first inning, with Colleyville (3-3) taking the lead in the 6th inning as Brandon Moss doubled home Scott Lawson, making the score 2-1. Weatherford (4-3) tied the score, 2-2, in the top of the 7th when Jeff Pruitt singled and Jamie Johnson walked to start the frame. Buck Britton bunted, but pitcher Blake Williams was able to force Pruitt at third for the first out. A wild pitch moved Johnson to third and Britton to second before Caleb Shofner's infield single sent Johnson home.  Jeremy Erben (2-0) earned the win for the Wranglers, pitching 3-1/3 innings in relief. LoneStar Iain Sebastian (0-1) took the loss for Colleyville following a 3-inning outing. Despite not figuring in the decision, Weatherford starter Truman Mace threw 5-2/3 strong innings, retiring 13 straight  LoneStars at one point as the Wranglers' defense answered the challenge of Colleyville's aggressive running game.
