COPPELL CONTINUES STREAK, ROUGHNECKS FALL TO BOMBERS

Coppell continues their winning ways and becomes the only remaining undefeated team in the league as Brazos Valley hands the Roughnecks their first loss of the season.

BRAZOS VALLEY 13, WICHITA FALLS 5

The Brazos Valley Bombers lived up to their name, cranking out a seven run first inning on the way to handing the Wichita Falls Roughnecks their first loss of the season with a 13-5 victory Monday night at Hoskins Field.  The Bombers (2-3) used outstanding pitching from righthander Cody Curry (Waxahachie, TX/McMurry) who threw 5 2/3 innings of nearly perfect baseball before leaving.  Curry did not allow a hit and the only Roughneck to reach base against him was on an error in the fifth inning.  Joseph Townes (Carrollton, TX/Texas-Tyler) led the way offensively for the Bombers, going 4-for-6 with three runs scored and four RBI. Townes posted a homer, a double and a pair of singles in leading the offensive attack.  Wichita Falls' Brett Holland (Lindale, TX/Texas-Tyler) took the loss to drop to 1-1 on the season.  The Roughnecks, who trailed 13-0 after the fifth inning, added a four spot in the eighth and a single run in the ninth.

DENTON 9, MINERAL WELLS 7
The Denton Outlaws tagged Mineral Wells with five runs in the top of the eighth inning and beat the Steam 9-7 on Monday night at Pratt Field.  Denton led 4-1 after three and a half innings but Mineral Wells plated four runs in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead. Steam shortstop Stephen Halford added another tally with a solo blast off the top of the left field fence in the fifth and put the Steam in position to win for the first time in five tries.  The Outlaws weren't finished however, pushing five runs across in the eighth and holding on to even their record at 3-3.  Denton reliever Juston Street picked up the win after throwing two innings and Jameson Maj worked a scoreless ninth for his second save of th season.

COPPELL 15, WEATHERFORD 5
The Copperheads continued their victory streak in strong fashion as they hammer in 15 runs against the Wranglers.  Coppell is now the lone undefeated team in the league with the Wichta Falls loss to the Bombers.  JD Alfaro led the Copperheads knocking in 4 RBI and going 2-for-5.  Coppell came up big in the middle innings scoring four in the fourth, three in the fifth and five n the sixth.  Kyle Walker got the win in relief and Justin Wells was tagged with the loss.
