Adrian Alaniz (Coppell Copperheads) from the University of Texas was named Pitcher of the Week in Big 12 Conference for the games of March 26-April 1.
Alaniz held No. 17 Oklahoma to three hits in a complete-game, 3-1 win over the Sooners. He struck out five on the afternoon and improved his record to 8-1 on the season. The Sinton, Texas native allowed singles in the third and sixth inning and was just shy of his second shutout of the season. Alaniz lowered his ERA to 1.17 in conference games and 1.75 overall with his performance.
Alaniz pitched for the Coppell Copperheads of the Texas Collegiate League in 2006 posting a 4-1 record, a 2.55 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 39.3 innings.
