Twins Drop Their Series Opener to Generals 15-2Victoria, TX – July 22, 2018 – After a short two-day break the Texarkana Twins were back in action at Riverside Stadium to face the Victoria Generals. However, the Twins had a rough night as they could not get anything going at the plate. The Twins will seek redemption July 23th as they face the Generals once more before heading back home. The Victoria Generals didn’t waste any time putting runs on the board. They scored 2 in the 1st and 6 in the 2nd putting the Twins in a hole they could not dig themselves out of. The Generals accumulated a total of 20 hits on the night. The Twins, however, fell silent at the plate. They only collected 3 hits on the night. They seemed to gain some momentum in the 4th inning after Cam Hill, centerfielder, scored on error while stealing 2nd, and Dylan Ditzenberger, shortstop, collected the first hit on the night for the Twins. This momentum was short lived, as the Twins were only able to collect two more hits, and one more run. Twins starting pitcher Gage Burns quickly ran into trouble in the 1st and 2nd when he gave up several walks, hits, and runs. The Twins had to turn to their relief pitchers sooner than expected. The relief pitchers took over pitching duties for the rest of the game. They allowed the Generals 7 more runs bringing the final score to 15-2. The Twins will finish this short two game road trip against the Generals tomorrow July 23rd. They head back home to George Dobson Field to face the Brazos Valley Bombers for a two-game series. After facing the Bombers at home, the Twins go back on the road to face the Brazos Valley Bombers in Bryan, Texas.
