Twins Split Series Against Marshals


Dallas, TX – July 19, 2018 – The Texarkana Twins bats came alive against the Texas Marshals. The Twins were in a back and forth battle for the lead the entire game. They finally broke the game open when they extended their lead by 3 late in the game.    Both the Twins and Marshals came out swinging tonight. The Marshals struck first in the top of the 2nd, but the Twins quickly answered back and took the lead. Centerfielder, Cam Hill, blew the game open when he crushed a grand slam in the bottom of the 4th. However, the Marshals rallied late in the top of the 6th to tie up the game again at 8-8. The Twins broke the tie from an infield single off the bat of, 3rd baseman, Caleb Lasseigne. In the bottom of the 7th with two on catcher, Coltyn Kessler, ripped a triple extending their lead to 11-8. The Twins held the Marshals for the remainder of the game.   The Twins bats’ were on fire the entire night. Nigel Smith, 1st baseman, opened up the scoring when he brought 2 in with a hard knock to the outfield. Coltyn Kessler, catcher, also contributed to the scoring in the 3th and 7th inning. Kessler brought in 2 when he singled in the 3rd, and brought 2 more in when he tripled in the 7th. Kessler finished the night with 3 hits, 4 RBI’s and one hit by pitch. Cam Hill, centerfielder, rocked a grand slam out of the park giving him a total of 4 RBI’s on the night. Caleb Lasseigne, 3rd baseman, got in on the scoring in the 6th when he singled, bringing in Coltyn Kessler to break the tie. Overall, the Twins were really seeing the ball tonight, and were making great contact.   The Twins have a short two-day break before heading to Victoria to face the Generals in a two-game series starting July 22.
