Local standout Williams joins the Bombers Outfield

 

Bombers Close to Finalizing Opening Day Roster with the addition of 4 outfielders

 

Bryan-College Station, TX (May 12, 2016)- The Brazos Valley Bombers continue to boost this year’s roster with the addition of four Texan outfielders. Riley Schaefer, John Grimsley, Michael Evan, and Rudder High School alumni -Darrien Williams will be joining the Bombers for the 2016 season.

 

Returning to his hometown, Darrien Williams will be playing for the Bombers this summer. Williams’ also earned “Pitcher of the Week” twice this season to complement his outstanding outfielding skills. To finish his second year at Prairie View A&M University, Williams’ lead the Panthers in batting average hitting .350 while driving 13 runs and was third on the roster with 5 home runs.

 

Riley Schaefer went from high school valedictorian and being ranked the #3 athlete in the Austin American Statesman’s top area athletes to making an immediate impact at Texas Lutheran University. During his freshman year, Schaefer played 30 games, started 14 of them and produced 10 RBI’s, and scored 17 runs. Schaefer batted .324 this past season, making him the 3rd best hitter on the TLU’s roster.

 

Freshman, John Grimsley, hit .355 with 16 RBI’s and two home runs for the top ranked NJCAA San Jacinto College baseball program.

 

Michael Evan is a sophomore, joining the Bombers, from Concordia University. In 2015, Evan was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week and on March 2nd, after hitting a .615 with two doubles, a triple, and five RBI’s, he earned the title “ASC Hitter of the Week.”

 

The Bombers are set to take the field on May 27th to begin their “Road to Four” at home against the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
