Warstic Bat. Co. Named Official Bat of the Texas Collegiate League

Outstanding players throughout the season will also be named the Warstic TCL Player & Pitcher of the Week

The Texas Collegiate League named Warstic Bat Co. the league’s official bat supplier on Friday. Players throughout the TCL will use Warstic bats during the 2013 season.

The decision to work with Warstic was an easy one according to TCL president Uri Geva.

“Warstic is an up-and-coming company that produces a top-quality product,” said Geva. “You could say it’s a lot like players in the Texas Collegiate League: it may be young, but it has a great future in baseball.”

Warstic Bat Co. founder Ben Jenkins expressed similar excitement about the new partnership.

“Obviously, the TCL exists to develop high quality, collegiate players so Warstic is excited to see our bats used at this level of play. That is what they are made for,” said Jenkins. “Our aim at Warstic Bat Co. is very simple. To make a quality product for serious baseball players of any age who have performance in mind when they select wood bats.

Jenkins added, “As a Texas-based company, we are extremely proud to partner with the TCL and the development of their players. It’s local support all the way around and we think that is important.”

Geva reiterated the importance of teams being near its newest partner. “It’s also great that Warstic is located so close to our teams. We’re excited to be working with Ben and Warstic, and we hope the 2013 season is the beginning of a long relationship between our organizations.”

As part of the deal, players this summer will vie for the Warstic TCL Player and Pitcher of the Week awards. Every Monday, the league will select the top performers on the mound and at the plate from the previous week. Winners will receive an engraved trophy bat courtesy of Warstic.

Jenkins founded Dallas-based Warstic Bat Co. several years ago and has earned rave reviews ever since. Bats are made in the United States from American white ash, yellow birch or sugar maple, in colors and dips that have become Warstic’s hallmark, including its trademark Wartip. The durability, performance, and look of Warstic bats have earned coverage from media across the country, including ESPN.com, The Wall Street Journal, and the Dallas Morning News. When the company was less than a year old, Warstic Bat Co. was recognized by GQ Magazine in a piece touting the “Best Stuff of 2011.”

The TCL has seen over 200 alumni drafted by major league teams in the last ten years. More than a dozen former TCL players have reached the major leagues, including all-stars Hunter Pence and Clay Buchholz. The World Series-champion San Francisco Giants captured the title with the help of two TCL alumni, Pence and Brandon Belt.

The TCL’s tenth anniversary season kicks off on May 30 when the defending champion East Texas Pump Jacks visit the Texas Marshals, the Woodlands Strykers host the Victoria Generals, and the Brazos Valley Bombers and Acadiana Cane Cutters battle in Lafayette, La. The 60-game regular season runs through August 9, followed by the playoffs.
